Biography

Shri Nishith Verma, I.A.S. (Retd.), was born on 7th August 1965. A retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2013 batch, he joined the Bihar Administrative Service in 1995 as a Deputy Collector, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in public administration defined by integrity, commitment, and excellence. Over nearly three decades of service, he held numerous key positions across the Government of Bihar.

As Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat Department, Shri Verma was entrusted with crucial responsibilities relating to policy coordination and high-level administrative decision-making. His tenure was noted for his foresight, efficiency, and adherence to the principles of good governance.

In his capacity as Director, Civil Aviation Directorate, and Director, Bihar Flying Directorate, he led major initiatives to modernise the State’s aviation infrastructure. He supervised the procurement, maintenance, and operation of State aircraft and helicopters, and played a pivotal role in the selection and training of trainee pilots, thereby enhancing operational safety and efficiency.

As State Protocol Officer, Shri Verma successfully organised and coordinated the visits of the Hon’ble President, Prime Minister, and Vice-President of India to Bihar. He also engaged closely with Heads of State, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Consuls General, significantly contributing to the State’s diplomatic and protocol management efforts.

While associated with the Bihar State Land Reforms Commission, Shri Verma made significant contributions to the study and reform of land and revenue administration.

Shri Verma rendered exemplary service during natural calamities and notably served as a State Special Relief Emissary during the Kedarnath Flood Tragedy in Uttarakhand, where his effective coordination of relief and rehabilitation operations earned high commendation.

He also worked extensively in the field of social justice and public welfare, focusing on the upliftment of women, children, and weaker sections of society through targeted governance initiatives and welfare programmes.

Shri Verma holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Botany and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialisation in Marketing Management. Before joining public service, he gained valuable professional experience in the corporate sector as a Marketing and Human Resource professional.

In recognition of his extensive administrative experience, outstanding service record, and dedication to public welfare, the Hon’ble Governor of Bihar was pleased to appoint Shri Nishith Verma, I.A.S. (Retd.), as a Member of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on 24th September 2025.
